Meat and Wine Co, Circular Quay - Food

Revisiting a previous meal, but in a different location. We have both been to the Meat & Wine Co before in Barangaroo, but this time we chose to visit the Circular Quay location to check out the difference. Walking in there was instantly a different experience and vibe, with an "African Safari" theme that was very creatively and effectively done. We were seated in a corner surrounded by many booths, which felt quite claustrophobic, and also next to a very large fan which was blasting the hair around our faces and making conversation basically impossible. The service was a really mixed bag, with the waiters being very nice people and very considerate, even asking if we wanted the big fan next to us turned off (which we happily said yes to), but we also had to wait a very long time for everything. For the food, our steaks were both very enjoyable, with the favourite being the fillet, extra juicy with minimal chewy fat for a beautiful melt in the mouth experience. The mash was also very nice, with a nice buttery flavour and being extra smooth. We also indulged in a starter of garlic bread, which had a toned-down flavour and did well to tide us over during the wait for our steaks. On the other hand, the market greens (which were our favourite; broccolini) were overcomplicated with other toppings and sauce and ended up not being very enjoyable. The creamy garlic sauce was a let-down; it had quite a herby taste to it that made it hard to enjoy with our chips. All we could talk about while eating it was how much we preferred the sauce from The Meat District. Finally, the wine was very pleasant and ended up being a very smooth shiraz that went down very easily. Another important note was that this ended up being very expensive, and we have spent less on much more enjoyable meals. The value for money at the Meat & Wine Co is not very high for us. What we ordered: - Garlic Bread - Monte Fillet with Chips - Monte New Yorker with Chips - Market Greens - Mash - Creamy Garlic Sauce Drinks: - The Meat & Wine Co Block 888 Shiraz (2023)
